See below for a list of charities and organisations that can assist with funding of equipment, therapies, providing advice and other services such as toy loans or holidays

A national charity offering lots of support for families including information and advice service, listening ear telephone service for emotional support, workshops and events, parent carer forums, range of affordable equipment and clothing via the fledglings shop (including seam free socks and adapted shoes – great for splints)

THE DORSET CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION

The DCF was set up to improve and enrich the lives of children with disabilities and their families who are experiencing difficulties related to the impact of disability, including physical health, emotional strain, and social isolation through a range of provisions. The DCF provides disability equipment, medical expenses and therapies not provided by statutory services. We also offer Accessible For All, a growing range of sports and play opportunities.

AMELIA'S RAINBOW

Amelia’s Rainbow are a Dorset based charity that support local children who have a disability or serious, chronic or terminal illness. It is their aim to enable children and their families to be able to have fun through the tough times that many face whether that is by funding a family day out, a special trip, leisure activities, or providing requested items that enhance the child’s fun, learning or memory making.

FAMILY FUND

Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Last year, they provided over 150,000 grants or services worth over £48 million to families across the UK.

CAUDWELL CHILDREN

Caudwell Children can support with mobility, sports and sensory equipment for disabled children and their families to help with their development, mobility and independence.

DORSET MIND

Dorset Mind Your Head’ (‘DMYH’ for short) is a Dorset-wide programme that aims to help young people of Dorset to be as mentally healthy as possible.


Young people cope with the stresses and strains of life in different ways. Growing up in the 21st century is not always easy. We aim to equip young people to have the resources, tools, support and information they need to build resilience, learn how to deal with difficult emotions and live a mentally healthy life.


From education programmes and support groups, to information and resources to help enable young people to look after their mental health from an early age; DMYH is here to help.

JUST 4 CHILDREN

Just4Children is passionate about the relief of sickness and preservation of health of children in the UK and Ireland by providing and assisting in the provision of grants to enable them to obtain medical treatment, therapies, living environments, equipment and holidays which would not otherwise be available to them.

TREE OF HOPE

Tree of Hope is the crowdfunding charity that helps children and young people with a disability or illness by supporting their families to raise the money they need to pay for specialist care that is not freely available through the UK healthcare system.

NEWLIFE

Newlife provide thousands of items of equipment every year. Fast-tracking delivery, to prevent suffering and when time is very precious. Childhood cancers, birth defects, accidents, diseases and infections can all cause disability. They are affecting children and their families every day.
Newlife offers the free loan of specialist toys to families who have disabled and terminally ill children.
The Play Therapy Pods are self-contained and are delivered direct to the family’s door.

DIVERSE ABILITIES

Diverse Abilities is Dorset’s disability charity supporting children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities across the county since 1955. They run youth clubs, a sibling support service, a benefits advice service, holiday clubs and have a range of care services for adults and children

JOSEPH PATRICK TRUST

The Joseph Patrick Trust (JPT), the welfare fund within Muscular Dystrophy UK, provides grants towards the costs of essential powered mobility equipment for children and adults with muscular dystrophy or a related neuromuscular condition.
